I subbed today... a second grade. I was teaching Social Studies, about Georgia's Mary Musgrove. The Social Studies book showed an illustration of a 17th century Creek village, with huts arranged around a central square. I had read that the Creeks played and met as a tribe in the square. But that was a whole five minutes ago.

I stopped to ask the class some review questions. "What is the place in the middle of the village called?"

The littlest tyke raised her hand, all excited.

I burst out laughing. "Why yes, it is. It surely is."

I love kids
