Your Daily Doom Monday: hurricanes, leaping bankers, and economy unhinged

How are you all faring? I pray that we all stay encouraged and positive in these uncertain times. Yet it is admittedly hard when the major news outlets of the day use words like "unhinge" and "fear, confusion, distrust" and "panic"...Yet Jesus is in control. Doesn't that knowledge do a body good? Have a wonderful day,

Elizabeth

As a prelude to the financial news, I recall Ezekiel's funeral lament on Tyre's fall, it is chapter 27.My concordance says- "It compares the city to a ship, mentions its trading partners, and describes how the ship sank. Jesus spoke of Type as a city worthy of judgment. (Mt 11:22)"

"The beauty of Tyre was the source of its pride and Tyre's pride guaranteed its judgment. The lesson perhaps for today is that unwarranted conceit in our own accomplishments is a danger signal to us. James spike of it in ch 4:13-14"

Boasting About Tomorrow

Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes."

Though James was not specifically prophesying and was the lament for Tyre was really a lament for Tyre, the principles behind the passages is a good lesson for today's situations on Wall Street and Washington DC. Since God is the same yesterday and today and tomorrow, perhaps, since we are seeing a repeat of the sins of the merchants of the past we now should be ready for coming judgment? I leave you to ponder

New visitor center omits America's religious past
The Capitol Visitor Center (CVC) in Washington, D.C., is currently under construction but scheduled to open in December to an estimated 15,000 people a day. Virginia Representative Randy Forbes contends the exhibits displayed in the Visitor Center contain few and factually inaccurate references to the nation's religious heritage.

For example, the reference to "religion, morality, and knowledge" in the Northwest Ordinance is excluded. Forbes notes the national motto "In God We Trust" has even been removed from the underground building.

"As many people know in looking at C-SPAN, behind where the Speaker stands, there is [sic] a number of columns, and above those columns there is the inscription 'In God We Trust.' In the mock-up that's meant to simulate that area in the new Visitor Center, they've taken 'In God We Trust' out, and they just have gold stars that go across it," Forbes details. "And then when they made a picture of the Speaker's podium, they cropped the part that said 'In God We Trust.'"

Virginia bans Jesus Christ's name

Virginia Gov. Timothy Kaine is being called on the carpet by a national religious freedom advocacy organization after his administration implemented a new state policy forbidding state police chaplains from using "Jesus Christ" in public prayers, and half a dozen chaplains resigned in protest.

Your Daily Doom: Thursday. Globalization, rumors of war, & bedbugs

I've been sending a prophecy newsletter to interested parties, which includes special updates. E-mail me if you would like to be included on the list. I read the bible and notice that news events of the day are playing out exactly as the bible has foretold. I titled it "Your Daily Doom" because the news today is so doomy but also because those who have not chosen Jesus are on the path to separation from Him forever. I hope that anyone reading this will feel the same sense of urgency that I do and share the Good news of Jesus Christ more frequently and earnestly. Yes, I'm the guy on the city corner in the sandwich board sign ringing the bell saying "Repent! The end is near!" And again, I know that makes me sound crazy. So be it!!!

Anyway, below are some highlights form today's letter:

GLOBAL ECONOMY/COMING ANTICHRIST - in order for this to happen, at some point we have to move from a free market capitalism structure among sovereign nations to total socialism under the guise of globalism. I believe that process is underway now. As George Ure characterizes it, "continue down a road which sure looks like the onramp to a global economic collapse"

Revelation 13:16-17 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Does Wall Street bailout signal end of free market economy?

A member of the Senate Banking Committee says the massive Wall Street bailout proposal requested by Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson "will take away the free market and institute socialism in America."

UN Chief calls for 'global leadership'

UN chief Ban Ki-moon on Tuesday stressed the need for "global leadership" as he pressed world leaders not to pursue narrow national interests in the face of hard economic times. "I see a danger of nations looking more inward, rather than toward a shared future," he said at the opening of the UN General Assembly's annual debate. He spoke of a "challenge of global leadership" to tackle the world's worsening financial, energy and food crises.

World leaders seek talks on financial crisis, multilateral reforms

World leaders on Tuesday demanded urgent steps to contain the global financial crisis and a sweeping reform of multilateral institutions, including the Security Council, during the UN General Assembly's annual debate.

PESTILENCE AND INFESTATIONS:
Luke 21:11 There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places

Bedbugs make a return via low cost flights
Increased foreign travel and a lack of awareness have been blamed for the rise in bedbug infestations being reported by airlines, train and bus companies. Pest control company Rentokil says there has been a 40% rise in the number of call outs over the past 12 months from the transport industry. Britain is now struggling to cope with infestations not seen in half a century.

Mark 13:7
"When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be frightened; those things must take place; but that is not yet the end.

And whenever Damascus is in the news, think of Isaiah 17:1:
The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.

Fears grow in Lebanon as 10,000 Syrian troops arrive on the border

Syria has massed thousands of troops along its border with northern Lebanon in what officials in Beirut fear is a prelude to the first incursion since Syrian forces pulled out three years ago.

Although Damascus insists that its forces are conducting an antismuggling operation, the Lebanese Government is eyeing the moves with unease, believing that the unusual scale of the deployment has more to do with tensions between the two countries over recent sectarian clashes in northern Lebanon.

Mr Assad has also likened the situation between Syria and Lebanon to that of Russia and Georgia. His comments sparked speculation in Beirut that Damascus could be contemplating a military incursion into northern Lebanon to protect the Alawite community from the Sunni militants...
