High vantage point photo shows true scale of DC rally

It seems that a Mr. Pinko has obtained an exclusive from the Photographer Michael A. Beck and FreedomWorks.org. Click on image above to see.

"This is a RARE photo of the 9/12 Rally taken in extreme High Resolution from atop the Capitol Building. Mr. Beck was personally escorted to this rare vantage point by a congressman who will remain anonymous. This panoramic view offers the viewer documentation of the epic scale of this peaceful demonstration of democracy in action."

How proud does it make me, a freedom and democracy lover who has always encouraged people to speak, to assemble and fight for our Constitutional rights. Protect them and use them, peacefully and civilly. This, to me, is the ultimate example of how it's done. Good job marchers! I am so proud of you all and of our country.

Now, on to the arrest reports from this event which some call a protest and others call a march:

[crickets]

Oh, that's right there is NONE. No arrests from a million+ people.

Even more proud is that they left it as they found it:
As opposed to...

Philly libraries to stay open

Yay the Philadelphia library will stay open. It was a close one, and when I wrote about it yesterday I was sad to see that the Library was on the front lines for such drastic measures

Here is the statement: "A little more than two weeks before the Free Library of Philadelphia was prepared to close, under a "doomsday" budget prepared in case the state legislature refused to pass a new sales tax, the state Senate has acted, and the library will remain open."

Philadelphia libraries to close

I posted a few days ago about how libraries have held a prominent place in my heart. They have always been for me a place to relax, to gather, to learn, to share with friends and family. I learn there. They are a sanctuary. A few days after that post, the Philadelphia city library website posted the following:

All Free Library of Philadelphia Branch, Regional and Central Libraries Closed Effective Close of Business October 2, 2009
All Free Library of Philadelphia Customers, We deeply regret to inform you that without the necessary budgetary legislation by the State Legislature in Harrisburg, the City of Philadelphia will not have the funds to operate our neighborhood branch libraries, regional libraries, or the Parkway Central Library after October 2, 2009.

* All branch and regional library programs, including programs for children and teens, after school programs, computer classes, and programs for adults, will be cancelled
* All Parkway Central Library programs, including children programs, programs to support small businesses and job seekers, computer classes and after school programs, will be cancelled. We are exploring the possibility of relocating the Philadelphia Author Series programs to other non-library facilities.
* All library visits to schools, day care centers, senior centers and other community centers will cease.
* All community meetings at our branch and regional libraries, and the Parkway Central Library, will be cancelled.
* All General Educational Development, Adult Basic Education and English as a Second Language programs held at Free Library branches will be discontinued, students should contact their teacher to see if other arrangements are being made."

Benjamin Franklin established the first library through open subscription, in Philadelphia, in 1732 before we were even a nation. And now, due to debt, poverty, and inability to pay the bills, Philly will close their libraries. Sort of ironic that the first place to close them was the first place they opened?

The thrill isn't gone

I moved to Madison County, Georgia three years ago next week. It has taken a while to become accustomed to the South's customs. I suppose that it has taken my friends and acquaintances a while to get used to my accent. But the things I thought I would love about Georgia haven't diminished with familiarity, they have grown.

In Maine, it is cold most of the year. Too cold to have windows open. Too cold at some points to even go outside. To save on very high energy bills, it is common to seal the windows over with plastic sheeting to prevent drafts. Sealed in for most of the year...and the big day when we punch through the plastic to open the first window of spring is almost ecstatic in a reverent kind of way.

How sad to be sealed off from the sound of the birds and the rain and the leaves quaking n the summer breeze! How sad to turn our lives inward to the couch and the musty stale air of a place sealed in for too long! I love that I can lay on the bed in mid-September with windows open and the temperature in the apartment just right and listen to the rain and the cars splashing through puddles. Above, Bert and Luke appreciate the outside smells.

In Gray, Maine right now it is 50 degrees. In Comer, GA it is 70 degrees. I raise my windows in March and don't close them until October. In Maine it is the opposite. Yeah, the thrill isn't gone. Georgia is great.

Kids mis-hear things so cutely!

I subbed in Pre-K today. I love those guys. The teacher mentioned the "Book Fair." One little girl squinched up her nose. "Book Fair? I thought it was the Book Fairy!"

Morning glory glorious

I have some morning glories growing up the left side of the threshold to the front door. They have climbed pretty quickly op the wrought iron trellis -like shelves I have hung there, and meandered across the top of the door. Actually, I had no idea that they would grow so fast and so lushly, and the top of the screen door now shuts on some of the hanging blossoms that have overgrown the space between the top of the door and the roofline. I need to cut them back a little.

They are gorgeous flowers. I see them every day whenever I go in or out...they're variegated lavender and white. I love how the sun shines on them in the early morning, and the petals are so delicate I can almost see straight through them.

The other day I was leaving for work and I noticed a movement on one of the lower flowers. I paused to see what had caught my attention, and there was a wasp that had crawled straight into the deepest part of the flower tube. It was then I noticed that this morning glory itself was blue. Blue.

How is it that one can look and look and look at something every day and still miss what is right in front of our face? The pop of blue and the gorgeous surprise of a different colored morning glory from all the rest did several things for me. First, I mused on the difference between looking and seeing. "And Jesus said, For judgment I came into this world, so that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may become blind." John 9:39

Also, I mused on God's creation, and how it continues to surprise me with its variety and its hidden secrets and its plain sight surprises that tickle the aesthetic and spiritual depths.

"Isaiah 42:5 This is what God the LORD says--he who created the heavens and
stretched them out, who spread out the earth and all that comes out of it,
who gives breath to its people, and life to those who walk on it:"

"JER 27:5 With my great power and outstretched arm I made the earth and its
people and the animals that are on it, and I give it to anyone I please."

Last, I took a fresh look at the vine, and saw anew that they grow fast! I need to re-direct them or soon I will not be able to close my door!

Thank you patriots!

Thank you to all who attended the rally in the nation's capitol yesterday. Estimates for attendance run from a million to two million to 2.2 million as per Capitol police estimates, to simply, "massive." (MSNBC) I am thrilled that so many with so much to say did so thanks to our constitutional right to peaceably assemble, and peacefully and used their constitutional right to free speech to make their concerns and praises known. “The liberals have managed to convince people that their ideas are mainstream, when in fact, they are not.” We truly live in a great country where over a million can gather to say just that. Even more than Obama's inauguration!

Scientists levitate mice

Disoriented

"Scientists working on behalf of NASA built a device to simulate variable levels of gravity. It consists of a superconducting magnet that generates a field powerful enough to levitate the water inside living animals, with a space inside warm enough at room temperature and large enough at 2.6 inches wide for tiny creatures to float comfortably in during experiments. The researchers first levitated a young mouse, just three-week-old and weighing 10 grams. It appeared agitated and disoriented, seemingly trying to hold on to something. "It actually kicked around and started to spin, and without friction, it could spin faster and faster, and we think that made it even more disoriented," said researcher Yuanming Liu, a physicist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif. They decided to mildly sedate the next mouse they levitated, which seemed content with floating."

'and we think that made it even more disorented.' Gee. Ya think? LOL.

Why did the DNC and Pelosi send TWO certification documents?

The following are documents obtained by the Canada Free Press and are authentic. They contain House Speaker's verified signature. I wonder why the Democrat National Committee submitted TWO certifications for Obama's nomination? I wonder why the TWO documents are almost similar, but differ in one critical phrase? These docs and the article is thanks to the Canada Free Press. Yes, Canadian.

Document Number One, the first one submitted:

THIS IS TO CERTIFY that at the National Convention of the Democrat Party of the United States of America, held in Denver, Colorado on August 25 though 28, 2008, the following were duly nominated as candidates of said Party for President and Vice President of the United States respectively and that the following candidates for President and Vice President of the United States are legally qualified to serve under the provisions of the United States Constitution.”

Document Number Two, on file at DNC and the one sent to the states:

“THIS IS TO CERTIFY that at the National Convention of the Democrat Party of the United States of America, held in Denver, Colorado on August 25 though 28, 2008, the following were duly nominated as candidates of said Party for President and Vice President of the United States respectively:

The text certifying that Barack Hussein Obama was “legally qualified to serve under the provisions of the United States Constitution” had been removed from the document sent to the states.

Fact don't lie people.

National Tea Party Day!

Police estimate 1.2 million in attendance. ABC News reporting crowd at 2 million. No "tiny fringe" here. Earlier Press Secretary Robert Gibbs claimed he had no idea of any tea party rallies or protests in Washington DC today. "White House officials on Friday professed to know nothing of the planned demonstrations. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs queried reporters about the planners and their issues. "I don't know who the group is," he said with a shrug."

I'll tell you who 'the group' is, Mr. Gibbs. THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. Two million of them who showed up to speak their peace in your face. And millions MORE in restaurants, garages, living rooms, parking lots, protesting alongside their brothers and sisters in simulcast. We. The. People. As long as we can still speak, we have a country. The greatest country in history, and the American people are speaking now.
